A man from Oklahoma died on Thursday after drowning in the gulf. The man of age 19 years was swimming during single red flag advisory behind Sharky’s when he was caught in a rip current as said by the Panama City Beach Chief Ray Morgan. Morgan also said that it is very important to know how to identify rip currents and escape from them. He added, “Stay calm. Swim parallel to shore. Swim down current. And you’ll then you’ll end up on a sandbar, you can walk right in.”

“Well, it kind of puts you on guard, you know, that safety. Of course, there’s an accident that happened that it’s alerts you to be more careful of your surroundings and, you know, the people in the water and stuff like that, so,” tourist Brandon Roberts said.

He was transported to Bay Medical in critical condition after being pulled out of the gulf by safety lifeguards and given CPR by first responders. He was later on announced dead in the hospital.
