As per the authorities, a man has been arrested on Sunday of age 40 years after stabbing another man in hand outside a café in Sweetwater. As per the reports, the victim was initially standing outside the Rinconcito Café which is situated at 10930 W. Flagler St. when he was approached by Christian Echeverri who was carrying a knife and wearing a backpack.
The victim was then started bothering by the man and when he tried to stop him, he started slashing movements with knife towards him and stabbed him in his right hand. Christian then stole the victim’s phone which fled south on 110th Avenue. Police officers have seen him throwing away the phone.
But when asked by Christian, he claimed that the victim had given him the phone and was having knife and tried to stab him and he did this in defense. Police then took the victim to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. “It is important to note that the victim seems to be very old and frail and walks (with) a cane and can barely maintain his balance without a cane,” officer said.
Officials arrested Christian on charges of armed robbery and aggravated battery. He was held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Monday.
