The foreign ministry informed on Monday that China has forbidden the entry of former U.S. lawmaker Mike Gallagher from entering the country due to his words and actions towards interference in internal affairs of China. China could also freeze asserts and organizations owned by Gallagher in the country and also the individuals from the country who are trading and cooperating them.
Gallagher was the Republican of China but was in a great support with Taiwan, a democratically governed island which is said to be its own by Beijing. Gallagher has also visited Taiwan in February to show his bipartisan support for the island and called herself “a leader within the free world”.
According to Gallagher, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was perpetually paranoid and considered itself to be in struggle against Western democracy, universal human rights, and freedom of speech which were considered to be a part of the “New Cold War”.
“As the CCP attempts to silence defenders of freedom, we should continue to shine a light on the CCP’s growing authoritarian repression at home and aggression abroad and stand firm in promoting the security, freedom, and prosperity of America and its allies,” Gallagher said in a statement via the Hudson Institute, a U.S. think tank where he is a fellow. He added that he is looking forward for returning to Taiwan in the upcoming future.
