Search and rescue teams are searching for a hiker on the Longs Peak of Rocky Mountain National Park for third consecutive day but did not find any clue regarding missing hiker. The hiker named, Lucas Macaj of age 23 years of Colorado Springs was last heard when he texted a friend for telling him that he reached the 14,259-foot summit of Longs Peak on May 12 around 1 p.m. Heavy storms have also moved through high elevations in the park Sunday afternoon.
Rescue team are searching in following ways-
- Some team members are reviewing aerial reconnaissance photo which was taken on May 13 for any possible clues.
- Ground teams skied to the base of Keplinger’s Coulier into the Hunter’s Creek drainage.
- The Long Peak Trail to Battle Mountain Junction have been searched by a dog team.
- Additional reconnaissance in Keplinger’s Coulier and the Loft along with the Keyhole rout is conducted by the Colorado Army National Guard by an aircraft.
Macaj was wearing a dark colored top, tan or brown pants, khaki-colored boots and a black backpack. He may also be wearing a beanie and dark colored gloves.
