Just a day after granting clemency to 16 people who were convicted of non-violent drug crime by US President Joe Biden, Kim Kardashian met Vice President Kamla Harris at white house in order to discuss criminal justice reform. This forum held on Wednesday and many people attended the forum including Jason Hernandez, Bobby Darrell Lowery, Jesse Mosley and Beverly Holcy.

In the event, Kamla Harris said that, “I’m a big believer in the power of redemption”. She also questioned that, “Is it not the sign of a civil society that we allow people a way to earn their way back and give them the support and the resources they need to do that?”

Kim Kardashian was thanked by Kamla Harris to being aware during the Trump administration by visiting White House frequently and using her platform that increased the importance of talking about and thinking about a second chance. Before telling the pardon recipients that she was very excited, Kim Kardashian said, “I’m just here to help and to spread the word”.

“Every time I’ve gone and visited a prison, I’ve met some of the smartest individuals with the brightest ideas and to see the changes that are happening to make their reentry easier, I think, is going to be life-changing and give so many people hope,” Kardashian added. Harris has also announced the Business Administration rule at the roundtable in order to remove restriction on loan eligibility based on a person’s criminal record.

The White House informed that, Biden has commuted the sentences of 122 individuals and also granted pardon to 20 individuals who has committed non-violent drug offences before taking his office. Last month, Harris convened a roundtable with people pardoned for marijuana offences with rapper Fat Joe,
