A 52 year-old climber from Keene Valley, New York named Robbi Mecus died and climbing partner of her got seriously injured. This incident occurred at a rout on a peak in Denali National Park and Preserve on Thursday night as said by the National Park Service.
She was climbing along with a woman from California of 30 years of age. Denali National Park is an 8,400 feet which is situated within Alaska’s Denali National Park and Preserve. The incident includes a fall of 1,000 feet on the park’s Ruth Gorge. Mecus died at the incident and her partner faced severe injuries. This path of incident is known for its steep and treacherous path along with a difficult combination of rock, ice and snow.
The climbing partners safely cuffed and started a trial and goes towards the southeast face of Mount Johnson on route which is also called as “the Escalator”.
The injured climber was taken from the incident point after an overnight watch and was given medical care and then flown back to Talkeetna. The injured was then taken to a hospital in Anchorage to achieve additional medical care.
