An integral member of the influential and controversial rap group named  2 Live Crew, brother Marquis died at age of 57 and his cause of death has not been declared officially.  Brother Marquis joined the rap group in 1986, just after two years of the relocation of the late Fresh Kid Ice and DJ Mr Mixx  from Riverside, California to Miami to link up with local promoter Luke Skywalker. Brother marquis added his comedic wordplay to the mix by starting to pioneer the Miami Bass sound with songs like “Throw the D” and made his debut by appearing in the 1986 album the 2 Live Crew Is What We Are of the group. This became his first album to be recorded with the group.

He has also appeared in the biggest and most controversial songs of the group such as “Me So Horny,” “Pop That P—-y,” and “Banned in the U.S.A.” When the group broke up in the early 90s, Brother Marquis went on to form group with Atlanta’s DJ Toomp and with them he released the album Indecent Exposure in 1993. He has also featured in the Ice-T’s “99 Problems,” original version whose remake by Jay-Z became a massive hit in 2004.

He then again united with Mr. Mixx and Fresh Kid Ice over the years. Fresh Kid Ice has already passed away in 2017.
