Kristin Muir, 38, the boy’s mother and Muir’s wife, was also detained and charged with obstructing justice, according to the authorities. Bryson was last seen with his mother on June 16, departing from an Ohio relative’s home, according to Indiana State Police, who made this announcement last week.
The religious organization Servant Leader’s Foundation, which also owns the farm where the Muir family resided, is said to have possessed the car in which the two departed. Not too far from the relative’s house, the police pulled over the car, but Bryson wasn’t inside.

The Cass County Department of Child Services requested police to investigate Bryson’s alleged domestic abuse two days later. Police said they attempted to contact his parents, but were initially unsuccessful. They later agreed to bring Bryson to meet with police, but then “backed out of that arrangement, which signaled an unwillingness to cooperate.” On Wednesday, police said they had found Bryson. A photo released by police showed the 14-year-old with a black eye.

An investigation remains ongoing, and police asked anyone with information about the incident to call 800-382-0689.
