Mother of former US first lady, Michelle Obama named Marian Robinson died at the age of 86. She had supported Obama by providing support and stability especially during the eight years of Barack Obama’s presidency. She was fondly called the “first grandma” by playing a vital role in taking care of her granddaughters, Malia and Sasha Obama during their early years at the White House. “With a healthy nudge, she agreed to move to the White House with Michelle and Barack. We needed her. The girls needed her. And she ended up being our rock through it all,” the family statement read, adding she died “peacefully” on Friday morning.
She was born in 1937 on South side of Chicago and one of seven children of her parents. She has faced the extreme big and lows in her life after getting separated from her parents during her teenage years. Her father never allowed her to join unio or work for construction firms due to color of her skin and hence “grew mistrustful of a world that seemed to have little place for him,” the family said its statement. They also said that beyond all this, her daughter became the first Black U.S. president.
